IT Senior Developer

Job Description

Delta Air Lines, Inc. has an opening for IT Senior Developer in Atlanta, GA.

Responsible for participating in the design, development, maintenance, enhancement, and support of applications. Understands business requirements in order to provide the technical design of computer software. Utilizes programming expertise in C++, BAL, and Sabretalk for the zTPF environment in order to develop and maintain computer software. Develops appropriate software and documentation according to Delta standards, utilizing experience with airline reservations application development and with performing structured analysis and defining and analyzing process/data flows related to databases including TPFDF. Supports and troubleshoots computer systems as required, optimizes performance, resolves problems, and provides timely follow up on all problems, utilizing experience with testing applications internally and testing integration of applications with external systems using messaging technologies that meet government and airline standards for data exchange. Follows Delta standards and methodologies in the development and implementation of computer software. Works and consults across multiple projects; functions as an informal leader. Works on complex projects that require subject matter expertise. Responsible for providing hands-on expert-level assistance to junior developers for technical issues. May, after some time in position, supervise more junior developers. Practices safety-conscious behaviors in all operational processes and procedures.  40 hours per week.  Less than 5% travel to occasionally attend meetings at Delta headquarters in Atlanta, approximately 4-6 times a year.

Job Requirements

Position requires Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Information Systems, or related field, and five years of progressively responsible post baccalaureate work experience in application design and development.

Must have five years of work experience with the following:

  • C++, BAL and Sabretalk for the TPF environment, including 2 years for zTPF;
  • airline reservations application development; and
  • troubleshooting defects and performing dump analysis in support of projects, system maintenance and production incidents.

 

Also, must have 3 years of work experience with:

  • performing structured analysis and defining and analyzing process/data flows related to databases including TPFDF;
  • industry messaging standards such as TTY and EDIFACT; and
  • airline Check in and Seats functionality;

 

Must have one year of work experience with:

  • Crew Management System interfaces for Deadhead Crew and Jump Seat bookings; and
  • API or SOA integration.

 

Must pass standard company background check and drug test.
